Managing tasks
The status flow — to do → in progress → done — plus editing, completing, reopening and cancelling, and how each move affects the matrix.
Once a task exists, you move it through its life from the card itself — on the matrix, in the List, or from the Do now card.
The status flow
to do → in progress → done
↘ ↓ ↑
cancelled ←──────────┘ (reopen: done / cancelled → to do)- To do — captured, not started.
- In progress — you're actively working on it. Use Start to move here.
- Done — finished. Completing a task records when it was done.
- Cancelled — dropped without doing it.
The buttons on each card offer only the legal next moves for its current status, so you can't make an invalid jump. For example, a cancelled task can't go straight to done — you reopen it first (back to to-do), then work it again.
Completing and reopening
- Complete marks a task done and stamps the completion time.
- Reopen brings a done or cancelled task back to to do and clears the completion time, so it re-enters the matrix.
Completed and cancelled tasks leave the matrix (which shows only open work) but stay available in the List view — filter by status to see them.
Editing
Click a task's title anywhere to open it. You can change every field — title, notes, due date and fixed/flexible, all ten scoring factors, and its dependencies. Saving re-computes its matrix position immediately.
Editing a task's factors is how you move it on the matrix — there's no drag. Raise its importance or bring its due date closer and it shifts toward Do; the AI helper ✨ Suggest scores can propose those factors for you.
Deleting
Delete removes a task permanently. If you might want it back, cancel it instead — cancelled tasks stay in your List history.
That's the full loop: capture → score → focus on the matrix → work it here.
